Do you make reservations on Line?Answer: So far I don't... all requests have to be processed "by hand" : Get your submitted reservation inquiry; Call the property to inquire; Give answer back to you with deposit instructions and cancelation policies; Wait for your prompt answer; Reconfirm you the reservation via internet link with proper reservation details including deposit and balance due.... I might lose you as a client after you read all this, but "no loses of time, no surprises".
How big is Yucatan Travel, is it a corporation?
Answer: Only one PC, one internet connection, my email: jop@yucatantravel.com & ejop@prodigy.net.mx a phone/fax 52(999) 987-4451 and me.... which is far away from a big business or corporation.
These first two answers might sound kind of discouraging but please don't leave without checking some referals.How long in advance should I make a reservation?
Answer: Christmas and holidays: The more in advance you can.
High season: 2 months in advance.
Medium season: 1 month in advance.Is is posibble to make a reservation without any front deposit or full payment?
Answer: Sorry it is not. The best I can do is to forward the reservation information you submit to me but there's no guarantee that the room will be ketp for you and in places with very few units or rooms for rent there's a high risk of not finding a room available even if you bring emails reading room was confirmed "as available". Please understand that to "forward the reservation information" is not the same than to "make the reservation", an initial 30% deposit is required in order to confirm reservations through Yucatan Travel booking services.
Would you give me the phone number, fax or exact address of a place in the list so I make my reservation directly?
Answer: Sorry, I cannot. All that valuable information within the website is free for you and I make nothing out of the places listed but just a little commission if I make a booking.... Of course as I make my living out of the bookings I'd love to handle your reservation if you decide to come.
Why am I asked for deposits in advance?
Answer: As most places listed are located in remote areas, the properties have a limited number of units for rent and it isn't common that travelers show up requesting for a place to overnight as in the city; hotel administrators & homeowners demand when taking a reservation for full payment in advance in order to avoid losses of rentals. Once a property/hotel confirms a reservation, Yucatan Travel incurs in full liability for the rental.
Is it more expensive to make a reservation through Yucatan Travel booking services?
Answer: In most properties it is not. Yucatan Travel gets its income directly from the businesses listed and charges the same public rates that the hotel, condominium or house does.
You are lying, I've been there and got a much better rate.
Answer: As you can read I charge the "Same public rates that the hotel, condominium or house does"; it happens that some (not all) managements, when clients show up and there's room for the night, no matter the public rate, negotiate it encouraging them to stay.
Why should I send you money if I don't even know you?
Answer: I simply have to pay the hotel, condominium or house in advance, otherwise they won't guarantee me the reservation and I can neither guarantee it to you.
What about if I show up at the reserved property (With my certified reservation and money receipts), and they don't even have my reservation? Answer: After final payment is received, I'll be very glad to give you telephone numbers of the property so you can yourself make sure that your reservation has been well handled.
What about if I show up at the reserved property and they don't have room for me?
Answer: Yucatan Travel is only liable for handling your reservation in a professional manner and have all documents regarding your reservation in written from the reserved property. If this situation is given, the hotel will have to take full responsability of any overbooking and solve the problem providing a similar accommodation or a courtesy.
Do you accept credit cards?
Answer: Yes, major credit cards are accepted through the PayPal credit card processing services.
How would it work if I am in Europe?
Answer: Yes, It's worked fine with clients I've had in the past from Europe
